The first Big Bear Lake Village multi-use trail was completed in April of 2015. The improved trail complements the extensive Village Street and Landscape reconstruction completed in 2013. Intended to invite pedestrian and bike traffic, trail amenities allow users, both visitors and local residents, alternative ways to experience all that Big Bear Village has to offer.
Starting at Veterans Park and the Pine Knot Marina the paved and lighted trail heads south through the Village connecting with the new Knickerbocker Trail Public Parking Lot (Big Bear Blvd to Knickerbocker Rd. South 2 blocks to the lot on the right) with a pedestrian bridge over the drainage channel. Village Shopping and Dining is an easy stroll from the new lighted parking lot and public restrooms located there

The lighted potion of the new improved trail ends at Village Dr., and from there, for hikers and bikers setting out from the Village, it’s a short 1/2 block east to Knickerbocker Rd and then south again up to the Towne Trail head and 2N08 into the forest.
The Village portion of the trail is perfect for walking, easy biking, strollers and jogging and is the first segment of the Big Bear Valley Pedestrian, Bicycle and Equestrian Master Plan to be constructed using the master plan concepts to connect recreation and alternative transportation modes with the businesses and services located in the Village.
